Today, ‘all different all equal’ has been presented to the Belgian press.
First, Jozef De Witte, director from the Centre of Equal Opportunities in Belgium, gave a small introduction. Jan Vanhee, co-chair of the European steering group and representative of the Flemish government, explained the European context of this campaign.
After that, the three ministers of Youth in Belgium told the press what is going to happen in each Community. (Belgium has three Communities: the French speaking, German speaking and Flemish Community. Since youth policy is a community competence, we have a minister of Youth and a different campaign in each Community.) Most important is the signing of a statement by those three ministers, representatives of the three youth councils and the famous godfathers. This statement is based upon the call from the Council of Europe. (See attachment)
It wasn’t the most exciting launching of a campaign, more an official moment. But it is quite unique that the three Belgian communities make a common statement like this. It seems like there is no way back now and that we have to put our plans into effect. Yiehaaaa!
Check out www.allemaalanders.be for the Flemish campaign website. Off course, most of it is in Dutch but the website will give you an idea of how we are going to campaign in Flanders. This website will grow during the campaign.
