Course on Arabic language and culture

CoE logo Strasbourg, 02.07.2007 – The Council of Europe’s Directorate of Youth and Sport and the Directorate of External Relations and Co-operation of the Islamic Organisation for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) are organising an intercultural course on Arabic language and culture in Rabat (Morocco) from 2 to 27 July 2007.

The course is intended for members of European youth organisations between the ages of 18 and 30. It is intended to develop their language skills, to promote intercultural and interreligious dialogue, international understanding, and to combat prejudice and all forms of racism and xenophobia.

It also has a number of more specific aims:

-    to give participants some knowledge of classical Arabic;
-    to introduce them to the political, social and cultural life of Morocco;
-    to familiarise them with various aspects of youth work;
-    to facilitate the development of joint projects and promote the networking of European and Moroccan youth organisations;
-    to promote youth mobility, intercultural attitudes and multilingualism in youth work.

The course is taking place at the Faculty of Educational Science in Mohammed V University (Rabat-Souissi).
