Description of the project:
The overall goal of this project is to strengthen the capacity of human rights organizations to undertake human rights education (HRE) efforts (e.g. training, awareness campaigns, information dissemination, and advocacy) aimed at building a global culture of human rights with focus on violence prevention .

Main components of the project are:

  • A 10 days training course in Human Rights Education and Youth Violence Prevention for 25 youth workers and teachers
  • 10 local training courses in Human Rights Education and Youth Violence Prevention for 200 youth workers, teachers and police officers
  • developing a web site with educational resources in Human Rights Education for 2000 youth workers, teachers and police officers
  • A partnership development seminar for 50 youth workers, teachers and police officers in order to develop efficient local networks

Short description of the main components:

The Training of Human Rights Education and Youth Violence Prevention Multipliers ( 22-30 October 2006) integrated 3 fundamental issues:

  • involving the main actors: youth workers, teachers and police officers in order to advance competence, skills and partnership for building sustainable programs with a  local impact
  • multiplying and long term effect by training 200 local actors dealing with youngsters in their everyday work: youth workers, teachers and police officers - they can further develop projects involving youngsters, can make students adapt to school environment through mentoring or human rights education  programs and use violence prevention tools in their work.
  • training actors in 7 key concept in Human Right Education (HRE) : Introduction in HRE, The art of facilitation, Essential components of HRE, HRE and Youth Violence prevention, Methodologies for Youth Violence Prevention, Planning presentation for  Youth Violence Prevention Evaluating  HRE programs
 
The “Training of Human Rights Education and Youth Violence Prevention Multipliers” was developed in frame of Council of Europe campaign “All equal, All different”,


10 local training courses on HRE and YVP are taking place in  the next three month of the project after the The Training of Human Rights Education and Youth Violence Prevention Multipliers implementation. The training courses last 3 days and are developed by the participants in the Training for Trainers, in co-training. The beneficiaries of the local training courses are  200 youth workers, teachers and police officers from different towns of Romania. The design of training courses are  made according to the local learning needs and will be supervised by the project coordinators.

It includes, resources, description of the project, link to web sites in the field, etc.

A partnership development seminar will take place in the last month of the project for 50 youth workers, teachers and police officers. The purpose will be to develop partnership and networking between them.

The outputs and outcomes of the project


Outputs:

  • A network of 25 competent trainers in Human Rights Education and violence prevention: who have the knowledge about HRE, skills in YVP and attitude towards HRE and YPV.
  • 200 youth workers, police and teachers trained in violence prevention
  • A web site dedicated to prevent violence
  • A comprehensive report of the project containing reports about the Training of HRE and VP Multipliers and about local training courses

Outcomes:

  • A strong local partnership in 10 communities form Romania that struggles to prevent violence
  • An integrated  strategic actions  of preventing violence in the local context by involving the 3 main actors governmental , nongovernmental institutions and young people
  • Reducing the level of violence in schools
  • Creating a unique opportunity for youth and adults to come together and improve their skills, expand their knowledge base and professional network, and build a larger and more dynamic violence prevention


The network o trainers will clone themselves as a result of the training of trainers and the local training courses and once the investment was done this can not lead but only in further investment in education in different stakeholders.

The local partnerships will continue to act locally with low costs after this first investment in institutional capacity and probably with financial support from local government and educational institutions.
