Communication staff seeks for logo translation!
Following up the agreements taken during the first NCC meeting, the Secretariat is designing the logos for the campaign, which will be posted shortly on this website.
We are therefore looking for the exact translation of the sentence "all different - all equal" in the various languages through which people will deliver the message of the campaign (this includes also non-European languages!).
So, if you know how to say "all different - all equal" in one language that is not listed below, please post a comment with the name of the language and the translation of the motto.
If the language doesn't use latin alphabet, please send an e-mail to communication@alldifferent-allequal.info with an OpenOffice or MS-Word document attached and the required fonts to display the text.
The up-to-date list of available languages is available on the logo page.
Thank you for your co-operation!

Aloha,
The Swedish translation is:
alla olika, alla jämlika.
Last campaign 1995 used alla olika, alla lika logo in Sweden. How ever it is not direct translation (its all different, all same) and as we are doing bi-lingual campaign in Finland (having Finnish and Swedish as two official languages) we need the direct translation. We will also translate the logo for at least one of the three Sami languages spoken in Finland. Those translations are on their way.
Cheers,
Riikka
please, the logos!
Hi,
I really need the Swedish logo. Can I have it as soon as possible? It's just not possible to open the campaign without the logo in Swedish, as it is an official language ofFinland . Can it really not be done? If I had it this week, we could finalise our materials and have the logo in both official languages of our country. And the logo in Sámi languages and Roma languages would be welcomed as well.
And now when asking for help, I still have no stories for our This week inEurope part of our web-page. (see more on events-forum) So please send me story and have a funky Finnish campaign t-shirt!
I know everybody is very busy there, but this Swedish logo is an urgent matter!
Riikka
swedish logo... asap
Unfortunately, Mac is the only one who knows how to deal with / create new logos, and he's out of the office this week... He won't be back until next Monday . I hope it can wait until then...

OK
OK, we accumulated some 3 logos to do, I will try to do them by today.

Dear Rikka-
well done. I think that more NCCs should be encouraged to look for translations of their national minorities and languages of large migrant groups in their countries. Thank you for the good example!
I also would be interested in the translations of your finnish buttons, can you provide us with them?
bettina
finninsh buttons
Hi,
I will try to have some translations of the Finninsh buttons as well. Those were the very first ones, so only few of the will be on the final campaign materials. And some new ones will be done as well. In one week I will have the new buttons and also possibility to the translatios, now there is juts no time for that. (meanwhile you just need to find a finnish friend to translate them...;) Actually most of them don´t really work in any other language but Finnish...
kind regards,
Riikka
Hungarian
Hi everybody,
The translation for the previous campaign was "te is más vagy - te sem vagy más" in Hungarian.

Polish translation of the motto
Hello =)
We are from Polish Robert Schuman Foundation.
Our organization is running programme promoting motto "All Different - All Equal" . If you want to gain some info please visit our website - www.schuman.org.pl.
The translation into Polish would be
"Wszyscy Inni - Wszyscy Równi"
Warm greetings from cold Poland :]
Catalan
Hello,
The language is Catalan (català) and the translation of the motto is: Tots diferents - tots iguals or Totes diferents - totes iguals. Or both in two motto together, side by side. Is it possible? Thanks a million,
Sara and Mireia.

Gender issue?
Hello Sara & Mireia,
correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the two different translations are respectively the masculine and feminine ones. Am I right? If this is the case, this is a common problem to other languages as well, but you are the first one to point it out, so I decided to open a forum topic on this.
Meanwhile I will try to arrange a logo with the two forms side-by-side, as you requested...

Alternative proposal
Hello Dragana,
a colleauge of ours (from Bosnia-Herzegovina) commented as follows: "the translation as it stands now, it means "All different - All same". I would put it: "Svi različiti - Svi ravnopravni". How that works?".
As I don't speak your language, my question is therefore to you: "How that works?". You might have read somewhere else on the site that the translation is a delicate issue and we normally go for the very exact one, so, my apologies for being a bit picky! :)
Looking forward for your reactions,
Mac.
Translation into Romansh (Switzerland's 4th language)

turkish translation
Hi there,
Turkish translation is "Herkes Farklı - Herkes Eşit"
1, 2 ,3 turkish translations!
Thank you ehtemcan for your support (both for the logo and the leaflet).
As you might have read in the "Polish thread" the translation of the logo is a sensitive issue, thus we try to cross-check all the translations that committed people like you send us. Somebody noticed that in 1995 documents a slightly different translation was adopted (herkes farklıdir - herkes eşittir) and for this reason I consulted with a Turkish colleague of mine, who:
So... apart for opening a public debate between Turkish speakers (but not only, as I know some other NCC too is struggling to find the best translation), I'm also inviting the Turkish NCC to make a decision quickly, as (for the brochure and other things) we need the final Turkish logo soon!
Thank you again for your support,
Mac.
Turkish translation - Final Decision
Hi all!!
For the Turkish translation, NCC make up the mind and decided to use "Herkes Farklı - Herkes Eşit".. So the award goooeeess to ethemcan. It is the direct translation. It is not a full sentence yes, but after all, it is the motto..
Translation of leaflet is on its way for ammendments.
All the best,
Gulesin
Dear Mac and Gulesin,
Dear Mac and Gulesin,
Thanks for your kind messages, I'm happy to hear that translations are useful :) I suppose I need to contact Gulesin to obtain more info on NCC in Turkey?
Would love to contribute more as the preparation progresses,
Warm greetings to all

Hindu translation
Due to the cosmopolite environment it happens to leave in over this period, I have asked friends and colleagues around, whilst I was spreading arround information about both the Campaign and its website, about the translation of logo into their own language and here it is how an Hindu will say it in her/his own language:
“Sab bhinn, Sab samaan”
Soon I'll have the hindu letters format I'll forward to the you
Good day to all
Marius
Alphabet Diversity
Hello Marius, excellent idea to use your "cosmopolite" environment for the Campaign. As an add-onn to your proposal, I just asked a friend of mine who is Indian to send me an Hindi fonrt, and the Hindi spelling. The logo should be online by tomorrow!

Mistake (?)
Dear SiiN.ee,
an Estonian campaigner attracted my attention on the fact that the right spelling of "equal" should be võrdsed rather than võrdsad. Also Mr. Google seems to appreciate this word better (288.000 pages found rather than 2, of which one is ours...), so I'm changing the logo consequently.
Peace and Love!

The translation into german would be - alle anders - alle gleich.
