All Different All Equal

3rd NCC meeting 6-8 December

National Campaign Committee

Dear NCCs and ESG members,

The next NCC meeting will take place from the 6-8 of December in Budapest. The call for nominations for NCCs goes out this week. Just like the last meeting it will be open for INGYOs who can send their application with a letter of recommendation to the secretariat@alldifferent-allequal.info until the 23 October. In order to organize the meeting as powerful and useful and action-based and outreaching and pleasant ;-) as possible for all of us, I invite you to discuss the structure of the meeting beforehand with me. I will start the discussion with the following reflections:

General ideas:
1.    In order to have good information flow and a good exchange I think as many members of the secretariat as possible should be present during the whole meeting as well as in the different workshops.
2.    The NCCs are invited to take the meeting as their forum and decide on its content and priorities. Let me know if you want to offer a workshop on a certain topic or if you want to do a presentation (music, film, pp, theatre) and I will try to coordinate it.
3.    I think some plenary sessions are necessary for a general discussion, but most of the time should be spend in working groups and/or workshops that should be organised by the participants. I think it would be good to agree on some of the topics of the working groups beforehand, that saves time. Nonetheless I don't want to set up a completely fixed agenda, there should be enough flexibility and space to deal with issues that come up during the meeting.

It could look like this:

6th plenary session: general introduction, information on behalf of the Secretariat
7th morning:
2-3 hours
3-4 parallel working groups with your presentations (including pp, visuals etc) on Campaign activities and visuals in the countries
Afterwards short reporting in plenary

7th afternoon:
3 hours
3-4 new parallel working groups and/or workshops (different from the ones in the morning) on different topics like:
- How to campaign with little money?
- How to reach out to certain target groups?
- How to face challenges (like conflicts between different groups involved)? Etc
- How to attract media attention?

evening:  :-)  :-) ;-) ;-) :-)  :-) ;-) ;-) :-)  :-) ;-) ;-) :-)  :-) ;-) ;-) :-)  :-) ;-) ;-) :-)  :-) ;-) ;-)

8th morning: plenary session with short reports from the working groups, final discussion on the focus for 2007.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? FANTASIES, IDEAS, DREAMS, HOPES WELCOME!!!!

New strategy of the campaign

As far as I know there was an idea proposed by the Campaign Manager that besides national strategy NCCsor ESG or Secretariat will choose several targets\public problems related to the issues of the Campaign and will develop plan of action for every single case, i.e. porblem of homophobia in Poland requires certain actions form us, from youth both in Poland and in other countries.  So I'd propose to leave some space at the meeting for discussion on such hot issues for youth in Europe which could be laid as a basis for our comon action.

What do you think about it?

best of all,

Fundraising

Jose,
you are right for sure, it still is a hugh issue for the NCCs. As you have so good experiences in the Netherlands now, it would be great if you could chair the working group, which doesn't mean that you need to prepare anything, just to share your experiences and to initiate the discussion on it. Would that be o.k.?
greetings
Katrin

Building further on earlier work

Sure, if others are interested. There have, by the way, been discussions and working groups on fundraising and other issues during previous NCC meetings and even at the first meetings for the campaign (before any NCC's existed). It would be useful to have those results as a basis, so that we dont have to start from the beginning. I remember that the written reports from working groups during the first NCC meeting were all copied by the secretariat. If the secretariat still has them, I think it would be useful to look them up :-)
Best regards,
Jose

good practices please...

I agree with José that it would be interesting to make an overview of the previous reports. What has been told before about the different interesting topics? (fundraising, use of media, exchange between NCC’s…) I hope the secretariat has already a good overview about what is happening in the different countries. That way, it couldn’t be too hard to ask some ‘good practices’ to give a presentation in the working groups. I am more in need now for some good examples, hard evidence and results. Instead of just talking or brainstorming about it again. That’s a phase for eventual new topics, as the suggestion about how to tackle the homophobia in some countries.

To be short, I would like to see and hear stuff. So I can learn about it and take it in mind for next campaign activities in Flanders/Belgium.

sharing of best practices for fundraising

Hi KatrinA (and everyone else), I can imagine that it would also be useful to have a small working group or some other session on fundraising.  Of course we can do a lot with limited financial means, but for many NCC's budget still remains an issue.  Therefor, besides sharing ideas on how to campaign with little money, it might be useful to share best practices and ideas for fundraising.
In the Netherlands for example, we have been able to considerably enlarge our budget by chosing a different region every one or two months, and focussing campaign activities on that region for that given time. That way, we were able to apply for co-funding from various regional and local authorities.
I can imagine that other NCC's have found other ways to fund their campaigns, and I would be curious to hear about them.

Best regard,
Jose  (NCC Netherlands)

What about the topic of evaluation?

Hej everybody, I think evaluation should be as well a topic of the next NCC-Meeting. It is pretty important to evaluate our work so that we'll know what to do better during the next campaign *smile*. Well, it doesn't have to be "all different - all equal" third time but there surely will be new campaigns coming.

And it wouldn't make much sense just to start to evaluate the whole thing at the very end of it. Therefore we should talk about the topic during this meeting.

kind regards, Kathrin
