Possibility to involve in Campaign

Knowledge collection and provision

Hi!

Adviced by Mac I'm putting here 2 questions which - in my opinion - are quite important for many young people and youth NGOs :)

1. Do you have any advices, hints, propositions for young person which want to involve in Campaign. In addition - not only involve as a participant :p or in organizing local activites, but also in work on European level, knowledge transfer, consultancy or research.

2. Do you know if it's possible to involve in work of Campaign commitee in CoE not as NGO (or person) nominated by ministry? Just work together with CoE as a NGO (or person)? Any partnership status or status of consultant, something like that?

What do you think?

Greetings!

The NCC should be the first option

Dear Enga, thank's for having posted your questions here in the forum. I often receive by e-mail interesting questions which answers can be useful to many, therefore I took the habit to invite the person to post them here...

On the involvement of young people:
This is of course something on which we will be able to give more precise answers meanwhile the preparation will go on. However I can - for the moment - give at least some general guidelines:

  • It is a good idea to contact your NCC: in the last campaign (10 years ago) there have been over 1.500 activities running in Europe, and we expect more this time. It will be impossible for us to precisely keep track of all the activities, thus local contacts might work more efficiently in providing information. I don't exclude that in some countries some "local campaign committee" will be even formed, and that would be probably the best option to interact on project ideas and direct involvement.
  • On a European level, the involvement of young people as not-participants is still to be organised. For sure we will need volunteers during the big events we're thinking to (on a smaller scale it will be something like the "Olimpic Volunteers", doing even very simple tasks).
  • Consultants and/or researchers are sometimes hired by us, but we normally select them throught our established network, and the age is not a binding factor. A couple of days ago Alana published the call for a Reserach Seminars... if you you fall in the participants profile, you're surely welcomed to apply! :)

On the work as NGO directly wth the CoE:
As a general principle, the CoE is developing the campaing through the NCCs, and we invite NGOs to relate to them (it will be already difficult to co-ordinate with 48 NCCs, just imagine co-ordinating with 100s of NGOs!). I assume that only in certain very specific situations (e.g.: a county not having a NCC) the CoE might consider to establish a different procedure. The idea of having the preparation portal open to everybody, goes exactly in the direction of keeping the process transparent and participative (for this you don't need to be officially involved in a NCC!

I hope this answers your questions, but if something shouldn't be clear or if you have more, don't hesitate to reply with a further message.

Peace and Love!
Mac.
