9th of May - we celebrate Day of Europe or Day of Victory

 On May, 8th all Europe celebrates a victory over fascism. In the countries was in the USSR this holiday celebrate on May, 9th as "Day of a victory". This day in different cities pass meetings of veterans of an «antihitler» coalition. In Tallinn veterans meet at "a monument to the no-name soldier".

In it to a year at 12.00 takes place putting on of wreaths to a monument.

 

And at 13.30 at a monument people which will gather demand to clean a monument from city. One year ago a monument have poured a paint.

Monuments on cemeteries of the lost liberators are however profaned also.

 

Last week media has distributed the following message:


The mayoralty of Narva has sent to city schools the message, that KAPO (Estonian Special Police) does not recommend to deduce children on meetings on the occasion of May, 9th, writes Eesti Paevaleht.

"In order to prevent the provocations connected with schoolboys, on May, 9th we urgently recommend all schools to spend to this day study under the usual schedule ", - appears in the letter of the expert by formation from a department of the culture, dispatched in Tuesday to directors of the Narva schools.

"After lessons it is necessary to watch, how children will go from school and whether they will go home. On the Peter square meeting on which KAPO does not advise at 11.40 takes place to result children ", - appears in the letter.

Yesterday mayor of Narva Tarmo ascertained, that it is a question of a mistake, KAPO ostensibly has only mentioned necessity to watch safety of children on mass actions.

I shall remind, that in Estonia all who was at war on the party of fascists refer to as fighters for freedom irrespective of there was it employee or served in groups SS... 1942 Estonia reported to the third Reich about the full decision of "the Jewish question"...

 

And today all the mass-media have distributed the information, that in city additional patrols will be deduced - 150 policemen will patrol in addition streets.

An Appeal to the World Public

 A new cynical plan of action concerning the monument to the warriors fallen in the course of the battle against fascism during the World War II has been announced in Tallinn.

In the course of a meeting with a delegation from the Right-radical party IRL, the Prime-minister of Estonia Andrus Ansip, the leader of the Reformist Party, has said: “I do not mind if the Union of Motherland and Res Publica make a proposition to add a paragraph concerning the removal of the Bronze Statue to the Military Grave Protection Act; and a reference to the monument to Peter I to the Unauthorized Construction Draft Law. In order to do this we have to pass the third and the fourth law”. 

It is worthy of note that in the course of his visit to Ukraine our Prime-minister assured the public to the contrary – just after laying a wreath to the monument to Soviet soldiers in Kiev. He said that the Military Grave Protection Act did not concern the Tõnismägi Monument. 

According to the national-radical plan, the laws that allow the removal of the monument to the soldiers fallen during the battle against fascism, situated on Tõnismägi square, will be enacted until 7th February. The supporters of this plan constitute a majority in the Parliament of Estonia, and this means that the fate of the monument is predetermined  

In our opinion, the national psycho-terror carried out by our state is profane and cynical. The parliament parties disregard the national will, international obligations of Estonia, and, finally, the recognition of national minorities’ rights.  

All the methods of the parliamental and political battle are played out; all our efforts of legal battle against the acts designed “for the monument” were in vain. Our propositions are rejected at once; the authorities do not discuss them with us. 

Therefore, “The Night Watch” appeals to all people living on different continents who share panhuman values asking them to support us, the protectors of the monument situated in Tallinn, with your taking part in civil protest actions, including protest actions near Estonian embassy in your countries.  

We appeal to all honest people asking to support our initiative of submitting the Tõnismägi monument to the aegis of the international community.  «The Night Watch»    Тallinn, February 2, 2007.

"The fighter for freedom" threatens to blow up a monument

So-called " the fighter for freedom ", the former deputy of the Supreme body of Estonia Juri Liim on May, 9th on Tõnismägi has declared the ultimatum to the government, threatening to blow up a monument to the Unknown soldier.
 
In TV-program “Reporter” on Kanal 2 Liim has declared, that to 1989 more year has enclosed a bomb under a monument, however, then it has regretted Kaarly church at which explosion would beat out all windows.
 
This time Liim has told: " I declare our present government, that if you therefrom will not clean it, we shall clean its, both we shall clean very loudly and is destructive. Clean this monument. Its present name – “Aljosha”(the monument "unknown soldier"), instead of the bronze soldier. Clean it on a cemetery - there to it a place ".
 
The president of Estonia Arnold Rüütel awarded Juri Liim with the Award of the State Emblem twice. First award Liim has received in 2000, the second - in February of this year. An award of the State Emblem - the maximum state award of Estonia, handed over to the civilian.

THE NEWS from ESTONIA

Minister of Defence of Estonia Jurgen Ligi on Monday has declared, that Estonians at war in structure of hitlerite army within the Second world war battled for freedom of the country, transfers agency " Interfax ".
 
" We should tell clearly at the state level, that your struggle in 1944 was struggle for freedom of Estonia ", - has emphasized Ligi, acting on meeting of veterans which were at war on the party of hitlerite Germany against armed forces of the USSR.
 
In opinion of Ligi, in honour of emancipating struggle of veterans of fascist army it is necessary to erect a monument.
 
On the same action deputy Rijgikogu Trivimi Velliste has informed, that deputies " from among the present patriots do not give up hope for acceptance of the law declaring at war in structure of German army by fighters for freedom ".
