All Different All Equal

Who are the visitor of this website?

The training for the National Communication Officers is just over, and I came back to Strasbourg with renewed enthusiasm and energy (working all the day behind a computer screen is quite an alienating experience for somebody with a background in non formal education...).

Today I was checking the statistics of the website, and I just realised that - for some reason I don't know - during April we had a change in the distribution of the visitors of the website.

For example: after USA and France, the most of our visitors are from Senegal. But also - after a few weeks during which the most of the visitors came from western Europe, we are assisitng to a "sprint" of eastern and central European countries: Romania, Hungary, Russian Federation, Estonia, the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia, Estonia, Georgia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Lithuania, Poland, Slovak republic, and many others have a much higher number of visitors than Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Luxembourg, Greece, Sweden, Portugal...

Roughly one third of our visitors are non-Europeans. Apart from USA and Senegal, we have visitors from: Iran, Egypt, Nigeria, India, Brazil, Lebanon, Kuwait, Peru, Israel, Thailand, Japan, South Africa, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Argentina, Singapore, Nepal, Venezuela, Qatar, Jordan, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, etc...

I personally find interesting to read the short presentations that visitors write in their profiles (they can be readed clicking on their names once you have logged on). A couple of examples:

I come from Argentina and I presently live in the Netherlands. My grandparents were European from Italy, Poland, Spain and Austria... so I feel I have somehow a European identity. I have been a youth worker, mostly working in peace and human rights education for 10 years. presently, I am specialising in conflict transformation.

I am a Liberian and has been living in Europe for some time. the term "All different all equal" is of particular importance to me. The problems that my country is facing at the moment is due to the lack of respect and understanding among ourselves and I hope to be able to learn new things from this forum to help me better work to improving the situation in my country.

A final small thing: from the "my account" menu on the left you can edit your own presentation and - if you thick the "personal contact form" option - you can also allow other visitors of the website to contact you without disclosing your e-mail address.
